Management team

Gyros senior management includes several team members with over 20-years experience in the areas of research and development, sales and marketing and business development. They have all held senior positions in companies ranging from small companies, to multi-national and global organizations within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics and life science supply sectors.

Erik Walldén

Erik Walldén

President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Walldén has more than 20 years of executive management experience
and a record of achievements in the biotech and life science industries.

Until December 2008, he was President and CEO of Affibody Holding AB, which he restructured for near-term and sustained profitability. Prior to this, he was President and CEO of Biacore International AB, which, after a successful turnaround, was sold to GE Healthcare in 2006.

In 2000, Mr. Walldén led Pyrosequencing AB (now Biotage AB) through a successful IPO on OMX Stockholm. He has also been instrumental in establishing and growing companies such as PerSeptive Biosystems Inc. (now part of Life Technologies Inc.), Pharmacia Biosensor AB, and Pharmacia Biotech (both now part of GE Healthcare Life Sciences).

He serves on the boards of the Industrial Supervisory Board of Healthinvest Partners AB, Exiqon A/S, VisEn Medical Inc., Proxeon A/S, and Bergekullen Fastighets AB.

Mr. Walldén is a Chemical Engineer with studies in analytical chemistry and biochemistry at Uppsala University.

Mathias Brandhammar

As CFO & VP Business Support Mr Brandhammar is also Secretary of the Board for Gyros AB and Company Secretary for Gyros subsidiaries outside of Sweden.

Mr Brandhammar began his career as Accounting Manager with Fridhem AS/Tunga Reservdelar AB where he was responsible for finance and administration. He moved to the former Pharmacia Biotech AB in 1992 where, during the following years, he held several senior financial management and administrative positions.

Before joining Gyros, Mr Brandhammar was Global Director for R&D Finance and Administration within Amersham Pharmacia Biotech (now GE Healthcare).

Peter Steffner

Mr. Steffner joined Gyros in 2007. He has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience in the life sciences market.

He has held various management positions at Biacore AB (now part of GE Healthcare), Xaar (formerly part of IBM) and Pyrosequencing (now Biotage).

Katherine Flagg

Ms. Flagg joined Gyros in 2009. She has vast experience in leading sales, service and application teams in the biotech supply industry.

Ms. Flagg began her career in life sciences at Pharmacia Biotech (now GE Healthcare) in 1988 and has since then successfully held several key roles in sales and market development at BioVeris/IGEN, ForteBio and most recently at BioScale. Her in-depth knowledge of the process involved in the development of protein therapeutics is of significant value for researchers who employ Gyrolab® to accelerate their drug development process. Helping customers identify and implement relevant new tools that bring value to their research is the focus of her efforts.

Stephan Hoffmann, Ph.D.

Vice President Business Development

Dr. Hoffmann joined Gyros in 2000. He has held positions as Director Systems & Verification and also as Senior Project Manager within Gyros.

Dr. Hoffmann served as Assistant Director at AstraZeneca, Lund, from 1996 to 2000, having been employed by the company since 1995 as a Research Scientist. Previously he was employed at the Swedish Tobacco Company, Stockholm. He has contributed to more than 10 papers and scientific conference presentations. Dr. Hoffmann received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Stockholm in 1989.

Nils-Peter Kristensen, Ph.D.

Vice President Technical Operations

Mr. Kristensen began his professional career with Ericsson in 1991 as a process engineer. Since then he has held several senior management positions in production and development at Ericsson Microelectronics and Ericsson Radio Systems both in the US and Sweden.

His most recent position was as Project Manager at Ericsson's Product Unit Wideband Radio Networks.

Mr. Kristensen has always been closely involved with the engineering and production issues that must be addressed to ensure routine production procedures with the highest quality assurance. He has also driven work in the area of production automization coupled to statistical process control.
