Gyros AB is the world leader in utilization of microfluidic technologies to miniaturize and automate immunoassays. The company was founded in 2000 and has around 60 employees, based at its headquarters in Uppsala, Sweden and at regional sales and support offices in North America and Europe. Gyros is expanding its global reach through a network of distributors.
Major biopharmaceutical companies and their service providers utilize the Gyros immunoassay platform to boost time-critical workflows and to meet increasing regulatory demands on testing. Several companies have multiple installations at different geographic locations.
Setting the standard
By transforming the performance of immunoassays wherever they are utilized within the biopharmaceutical industry, Gyros aims to set an industry standard. The company offers an open immunoassay platform that brings the benefits of miniaturization, integration and automation to the development and production of biotherapeutics, vaccines and immunotherapeutics.
Spanning the spectrum of immunoassay formats, the flexibility of the Gyros platform can be employed from early discovery and development through to preclinical/clinical trials and post-market surveillance. Typical applications include pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, toxicokinetics, biomarker monitoring, immunogenicity, product quantification and impurity testing.
Fast development times, and unattended running of assays at nanoliter scale, save labor, sample and reagents. Time to result is cut significantly and more information can be gained from less sample. The ease of assay transfer between sites, and from development to regulated environments, is unsurpassed in the industry and facilitated through the platform's compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
In-house expertise, future-proof technology
The company leverages in-house expertise in engineering, software and system integration, microfluidics, surface chemistry and immunoassays to enhance and expand implementation of its immunoassay platform. The technology underlying the Gyros immunoassay platform is fully patented. Intellectual property currently includes over 200 patents granted and more are under submission.
